As part of the City of Mentor’s commitment to enhancing public recreational spaces, B&N was selected as the prime consultant for the replacement of the Civic Center Waterpark’s restroom building. The project scope included conceptual and architectural design, landscape architecture, aquatic design, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) services, structural engineering, site civil engineering and BIM modeling.

B&N’s comprehensive approach ensured that the 5,000-square-foot facility was thoughtfully planned and executed to meet the community’s needs. The solution provided by B&N addressed the challenge of aging structures by introducing a modern, interconnected series of buildings. The new facilities feature accessible family restrooms, changing areas and a centralized lifeguard station. The building layout was designed to improve sight lines for lifeguards, enhancing safety and operational efficiency. The project also includes a concession stand, covered eating area and expanded splash pad, delivering a complete recreational experience for visitors.

B&N coordinated exterior materials to achieve a cohesive and attractive appearance, while landscape plans focused on creating a welcoming environment around the pool and buildings. Upgrades to MEP systems incorporated energy-efficient ventilation, improved lighting and updated utility services. Structural engineering solutions were based on geotechnical findings, ensuring long-term stability and durability.

The new facilities benefit the City of Mentor and its residents by providing accessible, high-quality amenities. Enhanced safety, improved maintenance efficiency, and attractive landscaping contribute to a more enjoyable experience for all visitors. Through innovative design and thoughtful planning, B&N’s work at the Civic Center Waterpark resolves longstanding challenges and elevates the standard for public recreational infrastructure in Mentor.
