The use of microscopic traffic simulation models has become more commonplace in the study of transportation problems and the development of transportation solutions. This paper discusses a case study where microscopic visual simulation was highly effective in illustrating proposed transportation solutions including comparative operation of two alternatives; operation of a roundabout under special event traffic with police officer-controlled traffic flows; and operation of a proposed high volume pedestrian crossing.
