B&N is developing a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan (CSAP) for the Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (WAMPO) and its member agencies. This plan will be an implementable framework for the region, identifying behavioral and engineering solutions to reduce severe crashes.

Structured around the Safe System Approach (SSA), the plan will create a space for multidisciplinary perspectives to come together and identify solutions that address the crash concerns in the region. The CSAP will comply with the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant requirements, ensuring that the region and the local agencies can apply for implementation grants. In addition to the plan, a video was developed to encourage safer behaviors in the region. A countermeasure toolbox, Safe Streets and Vision Zero visualizations will be designed to support the messaging surrounding safety in the community.

The CSAP established a comprehensive, multidisciplinary safety initiative for the WAMPO region, positioning it to qualify for federal SS4A implementation funding. This plan aims to create safer roads and improve outcomes for all transportation users, ensuring enhanced safety for drivers, cyclists, pedestrians and transit riders across the region.
