The 22-acre Spring Hill Park and RECenter includes a baseball field, hiking trails, a multi-purpose athletic field, picnic areas, playgrounds, and a 44,000-square-foot recreational center.  The RECenter houses a 25-meter heated swimming pool, sauna, spa, racquetball/handball court, fitness rooms, and meeting rooms.

B&N provided on-call multidisciplinary professional services for the park and recreational center under an open-ended contract with the Fairfax County Park Authority. Our scope of work included:

  • Site design services for the recreation center facility addition, including a parking lot expansion
  • Civil engineering design for additional Best Management Practices (BMP) facilities
  • Civil design and geotechnical engineering for three new synthetic turf fields
  • Testing and inspection services
  • Expansion of the existing stormwater management facility
  • Low Impact Design (LID) measures to reduce volume and improve storm runoff quality
  • Bioretention facilities
  • Porous pavement
  • Vegetated swales

The RECenter addition earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Silver Certification in 2016. The project also received the 2015 Award of Merit for a Build-to-Suit Institutional Facility Under $20 Million from the Northern Virginia Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP)
