To plan for future development in the area, Stark County Engineer selected B&N to design a multi-lane roundabout at the intersection of Pittsburg Avenue and Mt. Pleasant Street in Green, Ohio. The previous intersection was signal-controlled, which resulted in significant backups during peak traffic periods.
B&N assisted the County with a virtual public open house to meet public involvement requirements. Using expected future traffic volume for the design year, various lane configurations on each leg will allow for the future widening of both streets. Additional improvements included site grading, utility relocations, and retaining walls, requiring ROW design and acquisition.
During design, revisions to the profile and property grading of the retaining walls eliminated two of the three proposed walls. This resulted in lower construction costs and reduced private property impacts.
