B&N has performed National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) inspections on 456 Local Agency Bridges in Oregon’s Coos, Curry, Jackson, and Josephine Counties since 2014. Completed for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), fracture critical, fatigue prone detail, channel profile, and timber boring inspections were done in conjunction with the routine inspection on specified bridges. Project features included:
- Routine inspections of all structural components and arm’s length inspections of fracture critical members
- Timber boring to determine extent of rot and deterioration in piles, caps, and stringers
- Use of iPad-based field note collection and processing application developed by B&N to streamline field work and report writing and improve quality
- Mechanical access equipment for inspection of larger bridges
- Inspections in accordance with AASHTO Guide Manual for Bridge Element Inspection and the ODOT Bridge Inspection Coding Guide
- Collection of element level defects
- Reporting in BrM/PONTIS
