The greater Flagstaff
area is known for its’ culture of climate stewardship and awareness. The
City and the local Metropolitan Planning (MetroPlan) organization employed
the assistance of B&N’s planning services to communicate and assist
with their goal to significantly reduce carbon emissions by the year 2045.
As part of the regional shift away from the
predominant use of motorized vehicles, B&N developed a travel demand model
(TDM) to accurately account for transit, cycling, and walking trips expanding
MetroPlan’s ability to assess the effectiveness of various transportation
methods. This critical tool allowed the City to adequately comprehend and
anticipate regional growth to integrate into the development of the Regional
Transportation Plan 2045. These new features enable MetroPlan to assess the
impacts of a wide array of transportation strategies and help them develop a
transportation plan that will comply with their climate action goals.
Empowering MetroPlan
with the proper tools to tackle their climate action goals will help the
Flagstaff community maintain their sense of collective responsibility for their
pristine environment.
