The new 63,000 SF Legacy Library, designed by Burgess & Niple is making student learning the centerpiece of the Marietta College experience. The $15 million library building, located in the center of campus, features a traditional Jeffersonian brick exterior that blends with surrounding architecture. A landscaped amphitheatre was constructed outside and adjacent to the library to host performances on the green.
The interior design features are intended to encourage students, faculty
and staff to utilize the library as a gathering place. Features include a cyber-cafe for 24-hour study, two fireplace lounges, a third-floor study space
with 300-degree view of campus, an area with an experimental classroom
and support for innovative uses of technology in instruction, and a Special
Collections space to house the college’s Northwest Territory archive material.
