As part of the Design-Build Team, Burgess & Niple designed the LEED® Silver, $10.3 million, 35,290 SF medium Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility (TEMF) building and associated military vehicle/equipment staging and parking areas. The project included an offsite 104-car POV parking lot directly south of the TEMF facility.
B&N used Bentley BIM on this project, which facilitated communication with the Corps’ geographic district (Norfolk) and the COS (Savannah). The integrated design provided the most comprehensively designed solutions early on in the design process. To arrive at an optimal solution, the design was quickly manifested, explored and tested as a BIM model. Using BIM on the Fort Lee TEMF allowed all disciplines (multiple offices and contractors) have life data that improved project collaboration, increased efficiency, reduced design costs, and revised designs quickly.
