EPCOR Water Arizona, Inc. (EPCOR) is a large privately regulated water provider that supplies potable water to customers living in the master-planned community of Verrado and adjacent areas, located in Buckeye, Arizona, in EPCOR’s Agua Fria Water District.
To keep pace with anticipated population growth and development, EPCOR needed to construct new potable water booster pump stations and transmission and distribution mains to supply water to a new reservoir site. The improvements were complicated with a time constraint, having to be constructed in less than a year’s time as construction dollar spending was required the same year as the design contract was awarded.
EPCOR selected B&N to design and provide services during construction for two new water plants and two water transmission mains to provide capacity for the Verrado development in Buckeye. To meet the schedule and funding requirements, B&N broke the project into phases, quickly delivering the first phase within the first year. Phase one was the design of Water Plant 15 which included a vertical turbine pump gallery, a 10,000-gallon flooded suction tank, chlorination capabilities, site structures and grading. Following the first phase, Water Plant 16 was designed to include two independent pressure zone booster pump stations, chlorination capabilities, site structures and grading. A two-million-gallon potable water storage tank was designed to be concealed in the foothills of the White Tank mountains.
B&N provided substantial water supply on time and on-budget for EPCOR Water and Buckeye, Arizona residents.
