In order to best serve Phoenix’s Light Rail system, B&N was selected to conduct a corridor analysis due to our deep familiarity with roadway and light rail interactions. The primary goal of this project was to provide updated timing for traffic signals to best assist with traffic flow, light rail passenger, and pedestrian/bicyclist interactions. We utilized custom design software to build innovative simulation models, utilized drone technology for review, and provided before/after field observations to achieve optimal project success. The design has provided this intersection with a cohesive traffic flow and has yielded positive interactions between all modes of transportation along 19th Avenue near the Light Rail station.
