WTS Presents B&N with Innovative Transportation Solutions Award
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The new Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) at I-270 and Roberts Road in Columbus, Ohio – designed by Burgess & Niple (B&N) – was awarded the Innovative Transportation Solutions Award from the Columbus chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS). WTS is an international organization dedicated to building the future of transportation through the global advancement of women.
The award was presented by Tracie Davies, the Director of the Columbus Department of Public Service, at the WTS Annual Award Dinner event on February 12, 2014.
B&N designed the DDI for the Ohio Department of Transportation to improve safety, reduce crashes and ease congestion. This cost effective roadway solution opened in October 2013 and serves a heavily traveled industrial, commercial and residential area.
It is the first DDI in the state of Ohio and the 23rd in the United States. It also is the first DDI in the country to include dedicated bike lanes.
