Creating a high-performing team starts with cultivating a strong, inclusive culture. Recent research, including MIT’s 2022 study, reveals poor organizational culture impacts employee retention up to 10 times more than compensation. Toxic work environments, lack of recognition and inadequate support are key reasons behind employee departures. At B&N, we’ve taken a proactive approach to culture building including defining clear values, forming a cross-disciplinary culture committee and prioritizing employee recognition and wellbeing - we’ve fostered collaboration and innovation across our teams. These efforts have not only boosted morale but have also directly contributed to improved project outcomes and long-term retention of top talent.
