What does industrial development mean to a municipal and wastewater system? The impacts on the public utilities that serve the manufacturing industry vary as widely as the products that they produce. Using Beauty Park in New Albany, Ohio as a case study, this discussion will look at how a 3,000-acre industrial development centered around the production of personal care products can reflect these varied impacts on the receiving wastewater treatment system. How it is not necessarily the size, but the scope of the development and the products that they make that will determine the water use and subsequent wastewater discharge quantity and quality. This presentation will share what is involved in evaluating an industry’s potential impacts before they are established and how to prepare for those impacts.
