Marriott Columbus Northwest Dublin, Ohio Visit Event Website

This presentation will tell the story of the East Burke Street Bridge Renovation project. This bridge carries vehicle and pedestrian traffic over the Tuscarora Creek in downtown Martinsburg, West Virginia. The presentation will give an overview of how the historic stone arch bridge survived the Civil War when the confederate forces destroyed the adjacent Colonnade Railroad Bridge.

Several alternatives for renovation or replacement will be presented, followed by a detailed discussion of the selected alternative. We will review the design of the concrete strengthening arch and arch barrel restoration and share some of the challenges faced for foundation support and changes made during construction.
