Want to work for an A/E firm that values employee input and collaboration? Burgess & Niple is seeking an Electrical Engineer with at least 10 years of experience in our Norfolk or Richmond Virginia office.

B&N Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Lead the electrical design of commercial and federal buildings.
  • Opportunity to provide electrical design for additional market areas to include roadway and bridge lighting, treatment plants and pumps stations, and community developments/sites
  • Perform building assessments and electrical evaluations
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, design analysis and construction cost estimates
  • Provide design of electrical services, power distribution, lighting and control systems, emergency and standby power systems, and low voltage auxiliary systems
  • Opportunity to support the design of instrumentation and process control systems.
  • Perform construction related services to include shop drawings reviews, response to requests for information, and perform periodic site visits to observe construction
  • Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced team members
  • Strict adherence to quality control guidelines

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited college or university 
  • P.E. registration in the state of Virginia
  • 10 or more years of experience in related electrical design 
  • Experience using Bentley software is a plus 
  • Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT required
  • Experience performing power system studies and arc flash hazard analysis is a plus
  • Experience designing instrumentation and control systems is a plus
  • Desire and ability to work in a team environment
