Burgess & Niple is looking for a Civil Engineer, Transportation to join our team in Louisville. This position is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our local team and utilize their technical and leadership expertise to lead and complete interesting and challenging projects.

B&N Civil Engineer, Transportation Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with transportation team to deliver transportation infrastructure projects for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, local jurisdictions, and other clients nationwide
  • Lead preparation of plans including geometric roadway design, drainage design, right-of-way layout, traffic analysis and design, traffic safety, and highway safety improvement program projects
  • Work with senior engineers and project managers to solve complex engineering challenges
  • Coordinate with other disciplines such as environmental, structural, utility, or electrical engineers to integrate their concerns into transportation designs
  • Utilize modeling software such as OpenRoads Designer
  • Mentor EIT’s and co-ops in the transportation group
  • Build meaningful internal and external relationships
  • Potential development opportunities to grow into a project management role

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited Civil Engineering program
  • PE registration is required
  • 5-10 years of related civil transportation experience
  • Good communication skills, organization skills, team player, and detail oriented
  • Software experience with Microsoft Office, MicroStation & OpenRoads, StormCAD and/or ORD Drainage desired
  • Experience using software such as ProjectWise, AutoCAD & Civil 3D, HEC-RAS a plus
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, including the capability to learn virtual collaboration tools
