Burgess & Niple is looking for a CAD Technician/Designer to join our team in Dallas, TX to work with engineers, project managers, and technical staff in the production of plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates for municipal transportation and utility infrastructure projects.

 B&N CAD Technician/Designer Responsibilities

  • Support the engineering team by creating figures and construction plans for a variety of public transportation and utility infrastructure projects
  • Train and mentor staff in the proper plan production procedures
  • Collaborate with engineering staff on technical challenges while adhering to task performance indicators, budgets, and schedules
  • Assist engineers and CAD designers with tasks such as drafting and design, creation / editing of technical drawings and materials for submittal packages
  • Actively participate in municipal transportation and utility engineering projects for public agencies, counties, and municipalities

 Skills and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Required, Vocational school or associate degree in related program preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive technical experience in CAD and plan development for transportation and utility engineering design projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Civil 3D and/or MicroStation is required
  • Ability to take verbal direction and implement into drawings and calculations to produce the final work
  • Good communication skills and strong understanding of plan clarity
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to evolving client, project, and industry needs
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
