Burgess & Niple is seeking a visionary Strategic Practice Lead – Geospatial and Data Services to drive the growth and integration of our national geospatial and data services practice. This senior leadership role is pivotal in advancing our firm’s capabilities in GIS, data analytics, and asset management, supporting enterprise-wide digital transformation, and expanding our impact across public and private sectors.

B&N Strategic Practice Lead – Geospatial and Data Services:

  • Operate as a senior subject matter expert and business builder, responsible for developing scalable approaches, cultivating client relationships, supporting project delivery, and strengthening our national presence.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives, including enterprise system integrations, cloud-based GIS platforms, and smart infrastructure solutions.
  • Support internal teams with strategic guidance and solution design across disciplines.
  • Monitor and analyze national trends in GIS, UAS/drone applications, and data science to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Drive business development efforts, including proposal leadership, marketing strategy, and transitioning wins to work.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with federal, state, and local agencies, as well as private sector partners.
  • Identify and pursue new market opportunities, contributing to firm-wide growth and profitability.
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle, including scoping, budgeting, scheduling, quality assurance, and client engagement.
  • Ensure scalable, efficient, and technically sound solutions that meet or exceed client expectations.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Planning, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in GIS, data analytics, asset management, or transportation/environmental planning.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and managing complex, multi-stakeholder programs.
  • Proven ability to develop, scale, and deliver innovative geospatial and data service solutions.
  • Deep technical expertise with ESRI technologies, enterprise GIS platforms, and data integration frameworks.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with experience engaging diverse stakeholders and public audiences.
  • FAA UAS Remote Pilot Certification and experience with drone-based data collection (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, GIS platforms, asset management systems (e.g., Maximo, Hexagon, VueWorks), and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to B&N project locations and offices, including overnight stays, up to 30% of the time.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
