Come work with senior-level professionals at an established A/E firm that value employee input and collaboration. Burgess & Niple is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our team. This position is open to our office locations in Akron, Cincinnati, Columbus, or Mentor, OH. Additional cities of consideration are Parkersburg, WV, Austin, TX or Norfolk, VA. 

B&N Structural Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Work and coordinate with architects, engineers and scientists throughout the firm
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, design analysis and construction cost estimates
  • Perform construction related services including shop drawing reviews, response to requests for information, perform periodic site visits to observe construction, and perform structural inspections, as needed
  • Manage structural portion of project budgets
  • Direct CAD/Revit technicians and designers in the production of CAD drawings and Revit (BIM) models
  • Guide and mentor junior design staff in developing and delivering structural design projects.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • PE registration is required
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the structural design of buildings and treatment plant facilities
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and structural design software
  • Strong interpersonal communication and thorough design documentation and detailing skills
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, including the capability to utilize virtual collaboration tools
